Take The 3-Minute QuizTake The 3-Minute Quiz

Welcome to the 72nd issue of Python Monthly!

If it’s your first time here, welcome, I like you already. If you want the full back story on this monthly newsletter, head here.

The quick version: I curate and share the most important Python articles, news, resources, podcasts, and videos.

Think the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) meeting the Python world. I give you the 20% that will get you 80% of the results.

If you're a long time reader, welcome back old friend.

Alright, let's not waste any valuable time and jump right into this month's updates.

Here's what you missed in November 2025 as a Python Developer…

Write An Agent 🐣

There are big ideas in computing that are easy to get your head around. The AWS S3 API. It’s the most important storage technology of the last 20 years, and it’s like boiling water. Other technologies, you need to get your feet on the pedals first.

LLM agents are like that. Here is how to do it in Python and create an Agent.

State of Django 🔥

The results from over 4,600 Django developers worldwide. What are the best Django practices and tools? Find out with the State of Django 2025.

Python’s deepcopy Issues 🍱

Python’s copy.deepcopy() creates a fully independent clone of an object, traversing every nested element of the object graph. This comprehensive copying is convenient but expensive. So how can you fix this problem and make a better copy of an object? Find out.

Python 3.16 News 🐍

Here is the plan for 5-10%* faster free-threaded JIT by Python 3.16. If you want to nerd out.

How I Use Claude 🔮

A great writeup to start off the newsletter this month. Here is how to use every Claude Code feature. It's not as hard or difficult as it sounds, and if you read this post, you're pretty much all caught up on the latest features.

AI Clocks ⏰

This is pretty genius. Compare the AI models by seeing how they are able to create clocks. Tip: refresh the page to see new clocks generated each time. Who do you think wins?

AI on Education 🪄

A good reminder of the effects of AI on education. Be careful, as we've mentioned it many times at ZTM, AI tools can be powerful, but the operator needs to know what they are doing in order to use them properly and not be detrimental to your learning.

Fast vs Slow Programming 🤼

This is an important read: The Uselessness of "Fast" and "Slow" in Programming. People talk about fast vs slow programming languages all the time, but does it actually matter anymore?

News Around the World 🗺

  • The world’s largest cargo sailboat, Neoliner Origin, completed its first transatlantic voyage on 30 October despite damage to one of its sails during the journey.

  • Cloudflare had a massive outage this month that took down a big portion of the internet. Here is what happened. Blame AI.

  • Voyager 1 Is About to Reach One Light-day from Earth. We have a machine running on 1970s hardware, a light-day away, that arguably maintains a more reliable command-response loop relative to its constraints than many modern microservices sitting in the same availability zone.

Big Tech News aka AI News 🏢

  • Steam is coming out with its own PC gaming machine and everyone is going crazy over it. They also announced their own VR headset.

  • Google has come out with something big: Gemini 3. It's very rare that an announcement like this makes me switch tools but Gemini 3 is so far the most impressive AI I have used and I have now switched to using it as the default. I think it's a step better than the others now. My prediction: Google is going to be winning this race.

  • Google also released a new IDE this month for you coders: Antigravity

  • Google is stomping around like Godzilla this month with another announcement. Nano Banana Pro for image generation. Google is taking the lead.

  • Not to be left behind, Anthropic announced Claude Opus 4.5.

Completely useless to your career but still great 🙃

Best Resource of the Month 🥽

I have 2 for you this month. 2 very different resources, but both of them come from individuals at the very top of their field.

  1. Ilya Sutskever who is probably the top AI researcher (was head of AI at OpenAI and left to build his own "ethical" SSI company), shared his thoughts on the industry. Even though some of the things he discusses might go over your head, I think this should be required listening for everyone. Probably the best discussion I have heard all year around AI.

"These models somehow just generalize dramatically worse than people. It's a very fundamental thing."

  1. Warren Buffett shared his final annual shareholder letter. He is the greatest investor in history, but he shares some life lessons that you should all read. My favourite pats:

"One perhaps self-serving observation. I’m happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don’t beat yourself up over past mistakes – learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them."

"Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government. When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it’s hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior. Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman."

Trick of the Month 🎩

wow reaction
  • Remove censorship from the AI models. The name of this tool is perfect: Heretic

  • Turn your terminal into retro.

See you next month everyone... also share this with your friends... pretty please! ❤️
