Here's what happened in March 2026 in our industry
Labor Market Impacts of AI 🤖
Anthropic just did a massive study on the impact of AI. They have a horse in the race, so you have to take it with a grain of salt, but it's still very valuable. Check out the study here.
Key Findings:
AI is far from reaching its theoretical capability: actual coverage remains a fraction of what's feasible
Occupations with higher observed exposure are projected by the BLS to grow less through 2034
Workers in the most exposed professions are more likely to be older, female, more educated, and higher-paid
We find no systematic increase in unemployment for highly exposed workers since late 2022, though we find suggestive evidence that hiring of younger workers has slowed in exposed occupations
Looking Foolish is Underrated 🤡
Do you look at what you write, create, make, and think this is definitely not good enough to publish?
You're wrong. And you need to read this ASAP before you keep screwing it up. Look stupid. Speaking of, make sure you don't let AI write for you. You will lose your ability.
Time is Finally Solved ⏰
Unless you're a JavaScript dev, you will never truly understand the pain, but Time and Date in JavaScript has finally been fixed. Hallelujah.
Read the journey and solution here.
Find the Perfect Font 💅🏻
A fun little time waster: a game to discover the perfect coding font for you.
You are Not Your Job 🤑
Half your life is spent working. It's reasonable that we build a self around it. In fact, it's effortless. At its core, identifying by our labor is a silent assertion that "I am what I do" which is no more true than "I am what I eat".
But are you a calculator?
News Around the World 🗺
Axios compromised on NPM – Malicious versions drop remote access trojan. NPM and 3rd party library compromises are on the rise. Make sure you have `ignore-scripts=true` in your ~/.npmrc
Big Tech News aka AI News 🏢
Anthropic just leaked (oopsie) their source map to the world. Here is what Claude Code does behind the scenes: This is a nice visual unpacking of what was discovered.
Apple to me is the only Big Tech that is on the right path right now. They aren't too focused on the AI hype and are shipping good hardware with good chips. They just announced MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max. But they also announce something that I think is a pretty a big deal and something they have never done. An affordable MacBook Neo for the everyday user.
OpenAI is chugging along but there are red flags popping up everywhere. I think they are starting to feel the plateau of progress. They recently launched GPT 5.4. meh. They said bye to Sora this month. Also, in other news: Astral to Join OpenAI. A lot of coding tools and teams are getting bought up these days.
Microsoft is really fumbling lately and people are starting to hate on them again like it's the 2000s. It's so bad right now that they had to make a public statement. The comment section here is hilarious.
If you thought the above was weird, wait until you see this one that I am willing to bet is going nowhere: Perplexity is building an AI personal computer.
Completely useless to your career but still great 🙃

Best Resource of the Month ✅
Hear me out. This month's best resource is a curveball. You're going to start listening to this and in the first 5 minutes, you'll want to turn it off thinking this is stupid.
Just trust me on this and listen to the whole thing. It will blow your mind. A simple bee algorithm actually runs our internet. The algorithm is so genius, it will blow you away. Stop scrolling instagram and pay attention and listen to this: Time is Honey
Trick of the Month 🌗

New text editor has entered the scene. Helix. No Electron. No VimScript. No JavaScript. Use it over ssh, tmux, or a plain terminal. Your laptop battery life will thank you.
Find out which AI models your machine can actually run.
Thanks for reading!
