Still have questions?

Is this learning path suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. This path is designed to take you from no coding experience to building and launching real websites, apps, and automations with AI.

You will start with the foundations and learn the essential coding concepts, tools, and workflows as you build. You do not need a computer science degree, technical background, or previous experience using AI.

All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a willingness to learn and build.

Will I actually learn to code, or will AI do everything for me?

You will learn to code and understand how software is built, while using AI as a powerful coding partner.

The goal is not to blindly ask AI to generate an entire application and hope it works (spoiler: it doesn't... don't do that). You will learn how to plan projects, give AI the right context, review the code it produces, identify mistakes, debug problems, and improve the final result.

By understanding the fundamentals, you will stay in control of your projects instead of becoming dependent on whatever an AI tool gives you.

What will I be able to build after completing this path?

Your imagination is your only limitation! We'll teach you to turn your ideas into complete, working apps and websites.

Throughout the path, you will build projects such as interactive games, responsive websites, full-stack applications, a news reader that uses live data, a podcast player, an offline recipe app, AI-powered tools, intelligent assistants, automated workflows, and even your own professional developer portfolio if you're looking to apply for AI developer jobs.

You will work with front-end interfaces, back-end functionality, external APIs, real data, AI models, and deployment tools. The goal is to give you the skills and confidence to plan, build, improve, and launch your own projects, not just copy and paste from others.

Is this path only for people who want to become software developers?

No. This path is valuable for anyone who wants to turn ideas into working software, apps, and wesbites.

It's a great fit for:

  • Aspiring developers who want to build job-ready skills and a portfolio
  • Entrepreneurs who want to prototype products
  • Freelancers who want to build websites and apps for clients
  • Creators who want to launch their own ideas
  • Professionals who want to build internal tools or automate repetitive work

You do not need to be pursuing a traditional developer job to benefit from knowing how to build and code with AI.

Is this path useful if I already know how to code?

Yes. Experienced developers can use this path to modernize their development workflow and learn how to use AI more effectively throughout the software development process.

You will learn how to use AI to plan features, generate and refactor code, investigate errors, improve documentation, review dependencies, identify security concerns, write tests, and handle repetitive implementation work.

Instead of replacing your existing development knowledge, these skills help you apply it more efficiently so you can build more, solve harder problems, and ship projects faster.

Which AI coding tools will I learn to use?

You will get hands-on experience with many of the leading AI models and coding tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and open-source AI tools.

You will also learn how to use professional development tools and workflows such as code editors, the terminal, Git, GitHub, APIs, version control, and deployment.

The path goes beyond teaching one specific tool. You will learn the underlying skills and workflows that help you evaluate new tools, choose the right tool for each task, and adapt as the AI coding ecosystem continues to evolve.

Do I need paid subscriptions to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or other AI tools?

No you don't need any paid subscriptions. While some courses will show you and utilize features from paid AI subscriptions, you will be able to learn everything without a paid AI subscription and will often be provided with alternative free options as well.

Will the courses be updated as AI coding tools change?

Yes. The courses included in this path are updated by our instructors as tools, models, workflows, and industry best practices evolve.

Coding and AI tools and models will continue to change and evolve, which is why the path places such a large importance on also teaching you fundamentals and transferable skills such as project planning, context engineering, code review, debugging, testing, security, and evaluating AI output.

These underlying skills will remain valuable even as new models and coding tools replace the ones that are popular today.

Do I need to complete every course in the path?

No. The path gives you a recommended sequence, but you can adapt it to your experience and goals.

We recommend that complete beginners follow the courses in order because the knowledge and skills build on one another. More experienced developers can move faster through familiar material or focus on the AI-assisted development topics that are most relevant to them.

Courses marked as optional can be skipped or saved for later. You also have lifetime access to completed course materials for as long as your chosen purchase option provides access, so you can return when you are ready.

How long does it take to complete the Learn to Code with AI path?

Based on our experience, it takes people anywhere from 3-12 months to learn to code, but everyone's situation is a little bit different and there is no required schedule or deadline.

Your completion time will depend on your previous experience, how many hours you study each week, how deeply you explore the optional courses, and how much time you spend building and improving your own projects.

You can move quickly through topics you already understand, slow down when you need more practice, and learn entirely at your own pace.

What is the difference between this path and the AI For Beginners path?

The AI For Beginners path teaches you how to confidently use AI tools to work faster, solve problems, create content, analyze information, and become more productive in almost any role. It does not require you to become a programmer or focus primarily on building software.

The Learn to Code with AI path is for people who want to use AI to create websites, apps, automations, and other software. You will learn coding fundamentals, professional development tools, debugging, APIs, version control, deployment, and how to review and improve AI-generated code.

Choose AI For Beginners if your primary goal is to become highly capable at using AI. Choose Learn to Code with AI if your primary goal is to build software with AI.

What is the difference between this path and the Build The AI path?

The Build The AI path goes deeper into how artificial intelligence systems actually work. It is designed to give you the technical skills needed to pursue a career as an AI Engineer, including machine learning, deep learning, data preparation, model training and fine-tuning, AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and deploying production-ready AI systems.

The Learn to Code with AI path is for people who want to use AI to create websites, apps, automations, and other software. You will learn coding fundamentals, professional development tools, debugging, APIs, version control, deployment, and how to review and improve AI-generated code.

Choose Learn to Code with AI if your primary goal is to build software faster and more effectively with AI. Choose Build The AI if your primary goal is to understand, build, train, and deploy AI systems and be able to get hired as an AI Engineer.

Does this path include advanced AI development topics?

Yes. The path begins with beginner-friendly coding and AI-assisted development, then gives you opportunities to explore more advanced topics such as AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI application frameworks, model deployment, and working with open-source models.

Some courses are marked as optional, allowing you to customize the path around your goals. You can focus on the core skills required to build websites and apps, or continue into more technical AI development once you are ready.

You are not expected to understand the advanced material before starting. The path is structured to build your knowledge progressively.

What happens when AI generates incorrect, insecure, or low-quality code?

Learning how to catch these problems is a central part of becoming an effective AI-powered developer.

AI coding tools can produce code that looks convincing but contains bugs, security vulnerabilities, unnecessary dependencies, poor architecture, or incorrect assumptions. That is why this path teaches you to understand the fundamentals, review AI-generated code, test what it produces, investigate errors, and ask better follow-up questions.

You will learn when to accept an AI suggestion, when to improve it, and when to reject it completely. The goal is to use AI to increase your capabilities without surrendering your judgment.

What support will I receive if I get stuck?

You will receive access to the private ZTM community discord server, where you can learn alongside students, developers, alumni, mentors, teaching assistants, and instructors from around the world.

You can ask technical questions, get help with exercises, discuss AI tools and development workflows, receive feedback on projects, join study groups, and learn from people who are a few steps ahead of you.

Learning to code can be challenging, especially when you encounter your first difficult bug. Having an active community gives you somewhere to turn when you need guidance, motivation, or a second opinion.
